Unit 2 Relaxation!

In unit 2 of my Psychological and Spiritual Aspects of Healing class, we were asked to take part in a relaxation exercise. This proved to be quite difficult, as there has been no down time or quiet time for me in the last couple of weeks. Thankfully, I made some time and was able to do the exercise. It proved to be one of the best things I could have done for myself. It felt as though all my stress and worries about my daily life had just melted away. All of the tension I felt in my shoulders was gone, I felt peaceful and not worried about all that needs to be done.
It really made me think about the power of thought and how I don’t use that power like I could. When I get anxious, worried, overwhelmed, and many other emotions, all I need to do is take a few minutes and think of how I want to react to the situation. It made me think of the physical back pain that I struggle with on a daily basis. I chose to take a few more minutes of relaxation and focus my attention of blood flow to the muscles in my lower back. Surprisingly it helped ease the tension I always feel. I realized through this relaxation that as much as I love making sure everyone in my life is taken care of, there comes a time when I need to think about myself and my health. I tend to just go through the day dealing with the physical back pain and the headaches, but I think after this exercise it’s time for me to take care of myself as well.
The relaxing music and relaxing tone in his voice is something put things at ease and honestly afterwards I felt like a completely different person! This is something that I will continue to do and not just for homework ;-)

  1. Hi YouMakeYourLuck,

I'm glad you made the time to do the exercise, it's worth worth it. And judging by the way you say it made you feel, I know you feel the same way. When I think about the power of though my mind just wanders away. I think about all sort of crazy things that may not even be possible, but you never know. Maybe we haven't evolved enough yet. And now you got me all amped up. I can't wait to get hurt again so I can see if I can will it to stop hurting. Lol. And yes YouMakeYourLuck, you should always try to make time for yourself.

  2. Karli, Your blog looks great and colorful, I felt very welcomed when I visited your blog and read your profile. Congratulations on your engagement too, a beach wedding sounds like a beautiful idea!
I really loved the relaxation experience; I think I should do it more often instead of waiting for it to be a class project, right? The exercise made me feel very comfortable and warm inside for the majority of the exercise and other moments, I would tremble further along when I heard the voices giving commands on the audio. Overall, I think it was a great experience for me. This is the kind of healing I would bring to my clients no matter what population I was in and I would ensure the exercise was for the stress they were under.
Developing the blog was a quite different for me, never did anything like it before but found it to be enjoyable after playing with different sections of the website. My favorite is showing off my family to everyone and sharing my stories; how I met my husband and my children’s born premature! How did you like developing your blog?
